24Flow Basic Concepts

24Flow is a powerful platform that enhances the flow of production orders on your shopfloor.

In order to understand how the individual 24Flow product modules work, you first need to get familiar with a number of concepts and terminology that is used in the product.

This section does exactly that, it serves as a glossary and explains concepts such as product orders, operations, operation routings, production types, operation types, etc. Below we provide a short summary of the main concepts, these are further elaborated in subsequent subsections.

  • Production Order: The main object in 24Flow. It provides users with a complete and real-time view of the manufacturing status for a particular product. All related information such as operations, time registrations, checklists, etc. are available from the the Production Order.

  • Operations: the set of operations that need to be executed to fullfill a particular production order. An operation contains information on the duration of the operation as well as the team responsible for it.

  • Operation Routings: governs how a production order travels from team to team on the shopfloor. Each operation routing has one or more operations associated with it (i.e. one team can be responsible for multiple operations for a particular production order).

  • Product: The end-product that the customer manufactures. The set of Products is synced from the ERP system.

  • Production Type: It pre-defines the set of operations, teams, flow control mechanism and operation durations required to make a particular Product. The Production Type has associated Operation Type Assignments that link Operation Types to a particular Production Type. Production Types and Operation Types are synced from the ERP system.

  • Operation Type: This is a definition of the main operations in the production process, independent of a particular Production Type. The Operation Types are linked to a particular Production Type via the Production Type Assignments. The Operation Types are typically synced from the ERP system.
